Modeling salinity drop in estuarine areas under extreme precipitation events within a context of climate change: Effect on bivalve mortality in Galician Rías Baixas

چکیده
The mortality of infaunal bivalves (Venerupis corrugata, Cerastoderma edule, Ruditapes decussatus and philippinarum) due to a drop in salinity caused by extreme precipitation events estuarine areas has been analyzed within context climate change. Rías Baixas (NW Iberian Peninsula) were selected as representative area the environments where bivalve gathering is performed. Bivalve under was both for historical (1990–2019) future (2070–2099) periods. Precipitation data retrieved from Coordinated Regional Climate Downscaling Experiment (CORDEX) project Representative Concentration Pathway (RCP) 8.5 scenario converted into river discharges using HEC-HMS hydrological model. calculated introduced Delft3D hydrodynamic model simulations performed order calculate transport conditions Baixas. Salinity estimate species drops. In general, moderate severe may be worse than historically observed, being more intense covering larger areas. This mainly observed neap tides less dilution freshwater plumes when compared with spring tides. Although all potentially affected, impact will differ each ria, Arousa, highest occur, most affected. differences among rias, especially those similar discharge pattern Pontevedra Vigo, suggest that bathymetric features also play key role extent affected mortality.

Impacts of climate change on extreme precipitation events in arid (Bandar Abbas) and semi-arid (Shahrekord) stations in Iran
The aim of this paper is to project extreme precipitation events in an arid and a semiarid station. In order to project climate change based on general circulation models (GCMs), we have applied LARS-WG[1] downscaling tool. This stochastic weather generator down-scaled the climate of two synoptic stations using HADCM3 model and A2 emission scenario for 2040. We extracted extreme precipitation e...
متن کاملClimate Change Impact on Precipitation Extreme Events in Uncertainty Situation; Passing from Global Scale to Regional Scale
Global warming and then climate change are important topics studied by researchers throughout the world in the recent decades. In these studies, climatic parameters changes are investigated. Considering large-scaled output of AOGCMs and low precision in computational cells, uncertainty analysis is one of the principles in doing hydrological studies. For this reason, it is tried that investigati...

linkage between climate change and extreme events in iran
in recent years, interest in climatic extreme events (droughts, floods and heat waves) has been growing not only due to their direct impact on many socio-economic sectors, but also as climate change indicators. in this study, the behavior of extreme events is investigated using extreme climate index software (ecis) package. the trend analysis of extreme indices is applied to daily series of tem...
